MOESIA INFERIOR, Marcianopolis. Gordian III. AD 238-244. Æ Pentassarion (28mm, 14.55 g, 1h). Menophilus, legatus consularis. Laureate and draped bust of Gordian III right vis-à-vis draped bust of Serapis left, wearing calathus / Arched gate flanked by two roofed towers with arched windows in uppermost story; wall above arch decorated with crenellations, E (mark of value) within arched space. H&J, Marcianopolis, 6.37.46.3 (same dies as illustration); Varbanov 1968. Near EF, green-brown surfaces, minor roughness.
